Austin Tea Cooperative Code of Conduct

1. Introduction

The Austin Tea Cooperative (“ATC”) is a member-owned cooperative committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all members, employees, and customers. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for respectful and professional behavior within the ATC community.

2. Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all ATC endeavors, including:

  • In-person interactions at the cooperative store and events
  • Online interactions on the ATC website, social media platforms, and any other online forums associated with the ATC

3. Our Values

The ATC community is built on the following core values:

  • Respect: We treat everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, beliefs, or experiences.
  • Cooperation: We work together collaboratively and constructively to achieve our shared goals.
  • Inclusivity: We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members, employees, and customers.
  • Integrity: We act with honesty and transparency in all our interactions.
  • Sustainability: We are committed to operating in a way that is environmentally and socially responsible.

4. Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are considered unacceptable within the ATC community:

  • Harassment, including verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, bullying, and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Unwelcome sexual advances, including unwelcome physical contact, verbal harassment, or other forms of conduct that are sexually suggestive or unwelcome.
  • Retaliation against individuals who report or raise concerns about harassment or other violations of this Code of Conduct.
  • Theft, vandalism, or other forms of property damage.
  • Disregard of ATC resale terms.
  • Disruption of ATC events or activities.
  • Violation of ATC bylaws, policies, or procedures.

5. Reporting Violations

If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, you are encouraged to report it to the ATC Business Manager and Board of Directors. Reports can be submitted anonymously or confidentially.

6. Enforcement

The ATC Board of Directors will review all reports of violations and take appropriate action, which may include verbal warnings, written warnings, suspension of member access to ATC locations and events, suspension of employment privileges, termination of employment, or call for a meeting to terminate membership under article 2.8 of the ATC bylaws.

7. Commitment

The ATC is committed to upholding this Code of Conduct and fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all members, employees, partners, and customers. We encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with this Code and to report any violations they observe.
